Filtration is the cheapest insurance a diesel generator has. Oil, fuel, air and coolant filters all protect surfaces that cost many times more to replace than the filter itself, and nearly every premature engine failure we are called to has a filtration history behind it. Filters are consumables tied to running hours, so they are the parts most sets need most often.
Trap combustion soot and wear metal before they reach bearings and journals. A blocked element opens the bypass valve and circulates unfiltered oil, so an old filter is worse than no protection at all.
Remove particulate that would otherwise score injectors and high-pressure pump elements. Common-rail engines are far less tolerant of dirty fuel than older mechanical injection.
Drop free water out of the fuel before it reaches the injection system. Essential in Kenya where storage tanks collect condensation; the bowl needs draining as routine, not only at service.
Stop airborne dust reaching the bores. In dusty and up-country sites the primary element loads far faster than the service interval assumes, and a safety element protects the engine during primary changes.
Dose supplemental coolant additive and filter the cooling circuit, controlling liner pitting and corrosion on wet-liner engines.
Fitted to sets with hydraulic governing or crankcase ventilation; a blocked breather raises crankcase pressure and pushes oil past seals.
