Bearings, seals and gaskets are what keep an engine oil-tight and its moving parts located. They are the bulk of any overhaul kit, and the parts most often needed at short notice when a set is stripped and waiting.
Carry crankshaft loads on a pressurised oil film. Supplied in standard and undersize to match crank grinding.
Control crankshaft end-float; excessive end-float damages the flywheel housing and clutch or drive components.
A leaking rear main seal is one of the more labour-intensive repairs, so seals are normally renewed whenever the engine is opened.
