Air entering the engine from the turbocharger is excessively hot. High intake air temperature reduces engine power, raises exhaust temperature and makes the ECU derate the engine. This fault typically indicates a problem with the charge air cooler (intercooler) or ambient temperature issues.

High intake air temperature is usually caused by a dirty or restricted intercooler, boost leaks, or inadequate cooling airflow. In hot climates, ensure proper ventilation around the generator.
Clean the external fins of air-to-air intercoolers at each major service or when visibly dirty. Inspect for internal restrictions annually or if high intake temp faults occur.
