ECM Critical Internal Failure (J1939 SPN 629 FMI 12)
Cummins fault code 111 is reported over J1939 as SPN 629 FMI 12: the Electronic Control Module (ECM) has detected a critical internal failure (bad intelligent device or component). It points to the ECM itself, typically its internal memory or internal voltage supply, rather than an engine sensor, and the engine may not start. Note: J1939 SPN 111 on its own means coolant level, which is a different fault.

Cummins fault code 111 (J1939 SPN 629 FMI 12) means the Electronic Control Module (ECM) has detected a critical internal failure. Check the ECM supply voltage, grounds and connectors first; if those are good, the ECM itself is the likely cause.
It is not recommended to continue operating the generator with an active fault code 111. The ECM failure may cause erratic engine behavior, incorrect fuel injection, or sudden shutdown. Have the unit diagnosed by a qualified technician immediately.
